SXSW Music+BBQ

One of my favorite bands is appearing at one of my favorite joints. R.E.M. will be performing March 12th at Stubb's BBQ in Austin as part of the SXSW Music Conference & Festival. If you're not lucky enough to get in, National Public Radio will webcast and broadcast (and possibly podcast!) the show. The web/broadcast, set for 8pm (CT), is one of two SXSW 2008 Showcase Concerts, and will also include performances by supporting bands, Dead Confederate, Johnathan Rice, Papercranes, and Summerbirds in the Cellar.

A few months ago, Stipe was guest of Cold Play on Austin City Limits.I'm one of those music geeks who is building a small collection of "music moments." He performed In the Sun and that moment on ACL was golden. It has been on the pod for a while but seeing it was even better. Plus, Chris did an improptu tribute to Johnny Cash. Loved it.

Lucky, lucky you! You don't know how fortunate you are to be able to experience great bands like this, we get something every once in a while, usually its just has beens who are greatful to still have a few fans like Joe Cocker and Cliff Richard etc. And Celine Dion and Josh Groban who played here recently don't count as far as I'm concerned!
